This article features the D.C. restaurant "Eatonville," dedicated to the hometown and heritage of Zora Neal Hurston. Folklorists everywhere should cheer.
I attended this event with my daughter and lots of other "Zora-heads!" It was a wonderful evening and Valerie's (Zora's biographer) talk about Zora was interesting. Now I want to make the pilgrimage to Eatonville for the Festival and also read the new biography.
Eatonville is hosting a monthly event - African American Celebratory foods is coming up in December followed by Bacardi Rum and Cuba in January, and aphrodisiacs in February. Other events to follow.
